Hello! I’m Regina.
attorney & counselor at law
My name is Regina Horton and I’m a California licensed attorney with over 18 years of broad-based legal experience ranging from litigation to transactional work and a bit of everything in between. Now, my practice is focused on being a lawyer for lawyers. I defend lawyers who are being investigated by the State Bar of California for alleged misconduct and I help law students and lawyers navigate the moral character application process. I also advise California lawyers and law firms on ethical, legal and risk management issues. I look forward to working with you!
Am I the Right Attorney for You?
I offer clients a unique perspective. At the start of my law career, I worked at BARBRI as an Academic Staff Attorney and helped law students and lawyers admitted in other jurisdictions prepare for and pass the California Bar exam. My career then zigged and zagged over the years. I’ve practiced law both in-house and in law firms. I’ve lived abroad and I’ve moved from one side of the country to the other and back again.
Along the way, an opportunity came along to help lawyers under investigation or charged with misconduct by the State Bar. At the beginning, the discipline process was a complete mystery to me and the work was fascinating. The more I learned about the discipline process, however, the more I realized that no lawyer should face it alone or, at least, not without the right information to defend oneself.
It turns out that all of my zigging and zagging over the years has led me full circle (funny how that works sometimes, isn’t it?). I know the work you put in to get your license. I understand that, in law practice, sometimes things go sideways despite your best efforts and I know the State Bar’s discipline process. The investigation stage is the best opportunity to tell your side of the story and resolve a matter before it becomes public. My job isn’t to judge what happened. It’s to tell your story in a way that’s favorable to you but also truthful. My goal is to help you keep that hard earned bar license.
